Golden Eagle poisoned in Ireland's County Leitrim. (c) Allan Mee

An extraordinary spate of illegal bird poisoning has hit Britain and Ireland in the last few months.

May 2010. A horrific total of 6 eagles, 10 buzzards, 3 red kites, a Peregrine falcon and a sparrowhawk have all been poisoned in recent weeks across Ireland, England and Scotland. And these are just the ones that we know about and have been discovered.

Wildlife is the most valuable resource gifted by god
to mankind. Destroying it proves that we are still not
fully matured. As we are not giving respect to these.
Killing of these animals unnecessarily makes me rea-

  • lly miserable. Isn't there any way to stop it? Because
if there are no animals then our lives will be mechanical
enough to live.

Get rid of the grouse. This sport is outmoded. It's having a detrimental impact on other wildlife as we can see by these poisonings. At a time when people are concerned about introduced species why are we allowing breeding of such foreign game birds for sport.

Scum and Inbreds

The mentality of these people is beyond belief. I'm a fox-hunt saboteur in the UK and frequently come across this mentality. The problem mainly is that the land is owned by the wealthy(Scum), that give the orders and the followers (mainly from tied farms)(Inbreds) that follow the orders. The tied farmers are from small communities where interbreeding with close relatives is rife. The only way to stop the slaughter is to fine the land-owners very heavily. Unfortunately, in the UK, we have a new Prime Minister that is an avid hunter. He intends to repeal the anti hunting law to make it legal to kill animals: foxes, deer, hares, otters, mink, etc., with hounds.
I really do despair.

Imbeciles

We invaded the habitat of these wonderful birds and wildlife. Yet we are incapable of co-exsisting.
The people who carry out such acts are like a cancer on this earth, destroying natural beauty, life. They are mindless morons. If we cannot live with such beautiful natural creatures what hope is there to exist with each other.
Livestock concerns???? an excuse - get informed

This really makes me angry. What sort of lowlife scum would do such a cowardly thing as poisoning these magnificent creatures. The people that run these so called "exclusive" estates should not be above the law. The perpetrators need to be brought to justice and stiffer penalties imposed.
